The secret to Ben 10 is his all powerful Omnitrix

Ben 10 began with Ben Tennyson, his cousin and his grandfather on a camping trip. On this trip Ben found an alien pod on the ground. Investigating this strange object Ben finds a device that looks similar to a watch … the Omnitrix!

The Omnitrix suddenly attaches itself to Ben, unable to get it off Ben soon discovers the power of the Omnitrix.

The Omnitrix is an alien device that allows wearers to transform into alien forms. It does this by combining the wearers DNA with a selected alien’s DNA. The Omnitrix has been pre-programmed with alien DNA and can also absorb other alien species’ DNA by coming in to contact with them.

Thankfully for Ben (as he is only 10) the Omnitrix is easy to use. Ben soon discovers that in order to change into an alien form, he only needs to open the control dial on the Omnitrix and select the desired alien species on the display. In order to complete the transformation Ben only has to shut the Omnitrix … well it’s not quite as easy as that! Unfortunately Ben is never transformed into the alien species he selects. This was one of the safeguards created by Azmuth, the creator of the Omnitrix.

A long time ago Azmuth created the Omnitrix. Azmuth is a Galvan and he created the Omnitrix to help the universe better understand each other. However Azmuth predicted the power that the Omnitrix would have in the wrong hands and created a number of safeguards. Aside from the not changing in the alien species selected other safeguards include; the restriction of only ten aliens, only allowing the wearer to change species for 10 minutes, and a self-destruct mechanism.

However these safeguards are disabled if the master control of the Omnitrix is disabled.
